The hot-dip galvanizing overhead‑crane process places stringent demands on lifting equipment: workpieces are large in size and vary significantly in individual weight; they must be immersed into and withdrawn from the zinc bath smoothly, with no swaying during hoisting and transfer. Moreover, multiple cranes operate in concert, and positioning accuracy, synchronization, and reliability directly determine the production cycle of the entire overhead‑galvanizing line. Conventional cranes struggle to meet the harsh operating conditions of a hot‑dip galvanizing shop—high temperatures and corrosive zinc fumes.
Pegasus Crane has custom‑developed an automatic rail‑aligning double‑girder bridge crane to address the pain points of hot‑dip galvanizing lifting operations. The model is rated at 10 (5+5) tonnes and features dual trolleys operating in both independent and coordinated modes. Automatic rail alignment ensures precise positioning: the main girder is equipped with an automated rail‑alignment system, enabling multiple cranes to operate in coordination, automatically correcting their travel paths and achieving accurate docking at the galvanizing stations. With minimal manual intervention, this significantly reduces the risk of workpiece sway, prevents zinc‑splash contamination, and ensures consistent coating quality. Dual‑hook lifting capability: a 10‑tonne main hook is paired with two 5‑tonne auxiliary hooks, allowing for single‑point lifting or simultaneous dual‑hook operation to handle extra‑long and irregularly shaped steel structures. This setup facilitates smooth flipping, loading into, and unloading from the galvanizing tanks, meeting diverse lifting requirements in hot‑dip galvanizing processes. Corrosion‑resistant design for harsh conditions: the entire electrical system and metal structure are specially treated to withstand zinc mist and high temperatures typical of hot‑dip galvanizing workshops, enhancing the equipment’s corrosion resistance. This results in low failure rates during prolonged continuous operation, making it well suited to the demanding environment of such facilities. Continuous, reliable performance: since commissioning in January 2024, the crane has endured 2.7 years of nonstop production, handling the lifting and transfer of various steel components—including columns, trusses, and structural connectors—and supporting the galvanizing process by working in tandem with the immersion tanks, ensuring round‑the‑clock line throughput.
From the moment workpieces enter the zinc‑plating tank to the time the plated parts emerge for cooling, Feima’s automated rail‑guided cranes serve as the core handling equipment of the electroplating line, delivering reliable performance throughout the entire process. On site, multiple Feima double‑girder overhead cranes are neatly arranged; large steel‑structure components are lifted and conveyed by these cranes, smoothly entering the hot‑dip zinc bath to complete the galvanizing operation. The lifting and handling of oversized trusses and heavy steel members is carried out seamlessly in a single, continuous workflow.
