Pre-job inspection: Ensure that no equipment with hidden hazards is put into service.
Prior to lifting operations, a comprehensive inspection must be conducted; no hazards may remain unresolved—work shall not commence under any circumstances.
1. Inspection of Critical Components
Inspect core components such as the hook, wire rope, brakes, and limit switches to ensure there are no cracks, severe wear, or broken wires or strands. Verify that safety limit devices, braking systems, and alarm systems are responsive and functioning properly; equipment with malfunctioning or inoperative safety features must not be operated under any circumstances.
2. Lifting Gear and Rigging Inspection
Select appropriate lifting slings and rigging in accordance with the load specifications; do not use damaged or aged slings. Protect sharp edges on lifted loads, secure materials firmly, and prevent loose or overloaded lifting operations.
3. Workplace Environment Inspection
Clear obstacles from the site, establish a cordon, and evacuate unauthorized personnel. Under adverse weather conditions such as wind of Force 6 or higher, heavy rain, or dense fog, outdoor lifting operations are prohibited.
